Cheryl,
Your english is fine. If the shoe was on the other foot, I wouldn't be able to write one word in your language. The question you asked is a difficult one to answer, at least for me. Your suggestion that the Quality Director set the goals is a good one. This standard is new and there are a lot opinions, including mine. I'm not comfortable giving you mine. We won't know how good ours is until an auditor gets a shot at our system. Like you, we are still wading through the interpretations with our consultant.

Catherine,
As CarolX has said, we've been there. Messages can sometimes be misinterpreted. If I made you feel uncomfortable with my response, please accept my apolgy. For being a good sport, I will e-mail you a quality plan for you to look at. It may be of some help to you. I see your e-mail in the post to Fire Girl. Please be patient, as I may not have time to do it today.

Energy,
i am a bit confused (with the new IS0 concepts, etc.), grateful for the valuable info i am getting over here, but definitely not uncomfortable with your response (so forget about the apology) or from any other respondents (if i need to be told off, so be it) - that's why i am a good sport (the modest me). I have made so many ISO friends at this website (i think more than the company's M.R.). Patience is also one of my quality. Thanks alot for your help.

For a quality plan , U can design a form which specifies the steps of the process from receiving order to delivery of product the form could have the following data
as Min:-
1-Process or steps
2- Responsibility.
3- Equipement used.
4-Inspection points.
5- Criteria for acceptance and rejection.
6- Fequency of inspection.
7- Methods of inspections.
8- Forms or documents used.

use -what/where/when/how/who

and some companies they state in their quality manaul that the quality plans are covered through out the whole quality system documentation.

Your auditor will be interested in seeing a quality plan that addresses the scope of your certification. Any dept/process that directly impacts/effects your product/service output should be represented.

Cathy - I've e-mailed you a 'shell' of my company's format (minus all the proprietary info and flow diagram) I left in place a sampling of what 'codes' can be used for the flow chart.

chelys9:

Since 'Customer Satisfaction' includes both internal and external customers, you should (per our registrar) be detailing all key process in each dept, and identify your objectives/goals and what measureables are in place to measure your effectiveness in accomplishing those objectives.

And again - this should all be directly focused to the scope of your certification.

Hi K.Gohary & E Wall

Thanks alot for your suggestions/comments, etc.

E Wall, i hve rec'd the 'shell' of your company's format - it sure is different from other QP format, but thanks. Pondering whether it can fit into our type of setup.

We are not automotive, but have found a QS9000 control plan helpful for quality planning. They are then issued as work instructions to those involved. We liked the flexibility. It can plan quality for a process, a specific product, or the whole operation. Hope this applies.
