how could i apply quality objectives to a construction company? since, the customers vary. the durations of projects is not the same.

Please find attached what I'm using for the CPQ calculation and ISRC ( Index of Scrap & Rejects from Customer).
On the sheet CPQ you can find the exlanation of the CPQ parts.

By the way please could you explain me the real meaning of " ppm from CUstomer" ?
For exaple if my customer send me back one lot (100,000 pcs) of supposed defective pieces and after the screening I find 50 defective pieces. Have I to consider the ppm from customer as "100,000/the entire production shipped till now" or just only the 50/the entire production shipped till now"?

And in the case that my customer will throw away one supposed defective lot in behalf of me (expences for back the good is sometimes too high in comparison with the screening process) have I to consider in the ppm frm customer index the entire lot or the "supposed" defectivness of the lot as declared by the customer ( for exapmle 3%?)

50/100,000 = 500/1,000,000 (500ppm) = 00.05%

Hi my name is Sharon I have just been employed as a Quality Specialist in training at an enclosure company in Gauteng / Johannesburg. I have been a lab technician for 2 years. Now they asked me to put a goals document togather. At the moment I am the only one in the Quality Department as we still need toa dvertise for lab technician and the Quality manager resigned. I want to make sure that I cover goals for quality department team / quality specialist / Quality manager and quality controllers. If any one can help me with this I'd appreciate it. I am not sure whhat the main goals and not sub goals are for Quality Assurance & Control. I am lost.

I have put some things in place which I compiled from the last quality spewcialist and manager but not happy with it.

Are you looking for goals purely on Quality control? Is Quality Management System (QMS) also part of your department profile?

Hi Siu Fun,

Sample quality objectives provided by our friends in the Cove are excellent.

I’d like to add that the quality objectives and targets should be measurable and consistent with the quality policy. Also, include responsibility, means (e.g. specific program/activities, budget, etc.) and time frame by which they are to be achieved.

I suggest that you set your own desk plan relevant to program/activities and monitor the progress of the quality objectives. It should be reported during the management review meeting.

If your goal last year is achieve 90% revenue and you achieved it then make it 95% this year. Have you seen the continual improvement?

I was recently reading up on Health and Safety, and saw some explanation of aims vs. objectives. Haven't seen (or, more likely, noticed) this approach in Quality literature.

My interpretation is along the following lines:

Aim: To reduce cycle time for core business processes

Objectives:
1. Reduce Order Processing from 86 hours to 53 hours
2. Reduce Design time from 238 hours to 197 hours
3. Reduce time between final inspection and customer notification from 6 hours to 30 minutes.

Yes, all true. One company's 'goal' is another's 'objective' and a third company calls it their aim. or Purpose. Or something else!

The important thing is that within a particular company, they are clear about what terms they're using and that they all use the terms the same way.
