I have asked her to clarify what is meant by the observation as I am not sure and she is still to get back with a reply. She did however mention that if the observation is not corrected by the next external audit it will be classed as non conformance.

Insist on a different auditor next time. Soft nonconformances are not allowed. That is write it as an observation when it should have been a nonconformance. If it is a nonconformance, it has to be written as a nonconformance.

Worst of all, it sounds like a BS finding anyway.

Like I said, ignore it and move on, an observation is just that........"Hey I saw this!" and you can respond "We don't give a crap!"
