Anyody here that has knowledge or experience with the Exit PPAP requirements from Ford/Visteon. My plant is closing its doors soon, and I got word that we need to do these.

Let me know.
Thanks

Is the part being made elsewhere? I've been in a couple of plant shutdowns and we forwarded all the papers to the company which was taking the work.

Are you a one plant company or part of a larger group?

The plan is to transfer the projects to another plant within the same group. This can take months, just to build enough of a bank to get a smooth painless (for the custome) transition. However their first reaction to our closure was that we will need to do a an exit PPAP. But no more detail was given yet.

Thanks

Ford SREA

Normally, Ford requires a Supplier Request for Engineering Approval (SREA) form to be completed whenever relocation of an existing process or product takes place. This is very similar to a PPAP. This information is located in the PPAP manual on page 26. If the SREA is approved, PPAP and PSW is required again.

We have a similar case at our Visteon facility where the doors are closing and Ford has re-sourced the work to a competitor and is asking for an exit PPAP (which is not defined in the 4th edition PPAP so I assume that this is a Ford-invented step). I am not sure what our obligations are when it is re-sourced to a competitor.

Any comments?

The question really is - are you going to be out of a job, or, are you getting a position within the other division or place where the work is going?

If you are, then you need an Exit PPAP, if you are not, drink some coffee, walk around a bit :notme:-make it look like you're doing something for a couple of months and then OOPS!! I did not know we had to do an exit PPAP!!!:lmao: Professionalism is great - antagonism is better!!!:agree1:

Another great example of our wonderful Automakers doing everyone such a big favor:thanx:

The primary source for exit PPAP requirements is your STA.

Exit PPAP is usually required when you switch manufacturing location within your company. Both (old and new) location create a PPAP, so that the customer can compare and assess the processes at the different locations.

Now, if you are getting desourced..., I am not sure if you want to put the effort in creating an exit PPAP for your "ex" customer, who might/will share it with the new supplier.... hmmm.

Correct - Your STA (Supplier Technical Assistant) has to sign the request for Transfer.
