Is there a specific problem you are trying to resolve? A corrective action typically applies to a specific issue/problem occurrence or pattern.

Usually, aesthetic defects are identified - scratches, stains - the parts being made of plastic, or excess material. for example, at 10,000 controlled parts, there are - we assume -1500 stained parts. What is the corrective action for the final quality control?

Apparently, you do not understand what a corrective action is. You want to PREVENT such cosmetic defects from happening in the first place. Once the parts are produced with the defects, there is NOTHING a final QC check can do other than sorting good from bad. A true corrective action happens at the production processes which allowed the defect to be introduced.

Thank you very much for the answer. I said almost the same thing to my manager, but he wants me to open corrective actions at the level of the final quality control. This is also the reason why I opened this topic. Maybe I misunderstood the concept of corrective action and maybe with your help I clarify.

Tell your boss (if you dare) that the forum suggested the boss needs to be educated.

Corrective actions are incident control. Once an incident has taken place you need to take action to correct it, contain it, and if necessary determine why it happened and what can be done about why it happened.

In your case, if he wants to pursue why there are so many rejects, that goes back much further, likely into design of product or determination of how to make it. It's too late after the parts are made to do anything but sort the good from the bad then determine how far back they are willing to go with design or production planning.

This kind of goes back to you can't inspect quality into a product. Inspection doesn't improve the product, it only tries to catch the bad stuff.

Defect rate is 15% => It is big NG rate, that's why your boss asked you the corrective action. In order to improve it, of course you have to investigate the root cause. After finding the root cause you will find out the way of improving and controlling. Plastic part is also 1 of our products. The defect you mentioned here is scratch and stain. How about your 5S status especially the working tables, the gloves, carton box.. products overlapped can cause scratch... If your manufacturer is injection molding, how about the status of mold, the defect was happened on each cavity or not...
Hopefully can help.

Go ahead and start the corrective action. There is no way that the root cause investigation will not take you back to the manufacturing or handling operation that is causing the defects.

Problem description: Part #123, Batch #456, rejected at final inspection, approximately 1,500 out of 10,000 parts have unacceptable scratches.

Is the scratching happening in the final quality control area? If the answer is no, then follow the process and find which operation is causing it.
