FMEA for Bolt Manufacturing - Example wanted

Hi

I apologize for adding a new message.
I have searched on Google for manufactories of bolts (Im being focused only on bolts but its not relevant if they produce anything else along bolts) and sent around the world some e-mail messages. I asked them (through their classical ''info'' e-mail address, but mentoined at the beginning already that the message should be forwarded to the person responsible for Quality Assurance) if I could get some examples of their own full, so from the beginning to end, FMEA analysis with its submethods such as PFMEA. Of course Im aware that those kind of documents have copyrights so I guaranteed them that I will NOT forward anything to anyone anywhere.
Out of many, only two of them replied saying they don't use FMEA.

My research of FMEA larger examples continued. I found some example for bearings so perhaps I could get some idea there, I studied it a bit but with no success and cannot use this example for my environment - bolts. Also what I search for is large analysis with all details included on 50+ pages instead of few ones. I need it for implementing the FMEA in our manufactory where I work(ed) just with bolts and also for my thesis. The reason why example (even in my environment) with just a few pages wouldn't be useful is because FMEA is my only topic as professor suggested it. I need to provide bigger document with a lot of feedback. While (not done yet) reading the book ''The Basics Of FMEA'', I noticed also in our manufactory it will be needed.

My question is: Does anyone know, or is anyone in relation with a person / company who knows, which manufactory of bolts works with FMEA analysis? No matter in which country it is located. The name could be sent also through private message. I would message them or call them to ask if I could get/buy any examples. The ones who I contacted don't reply.

Im in ''our'' manufactory only part-time and don't do the daily-shift there anymore. Will start if needed - depends on requirements of FMEA.
I need some examples because, without them, its not possible, at least for me not, to know all houndreds of reasons why for example tool broke, all thousands of situations what could go wrong with bolts in all processes (cold heading, rolling, milling, thermal treatment) as well as other neccessary lists.

Of course I would appreciate a lot any other comment or suggestion relevant to FMEA + bolts together too.

Any fastener (bolt) manufacturing + FMEA experts who can help?

Thank you!!

For you to come out with 50+ pages of reporting on FMEA, You should have essentially chosen an Organization where FMEA is practiced. Without somebody to educate you the basics, your efforts could go in vain. Just my opinion.

I have gathered some books and tutorials, I will probably also go to two days seminar about FMEA but this is all just theory. Practical examples are online but not for my environment - bolts.
Trying to find those lists but that kind of work (database of ideas about brainstorming - failures, consequences and solutions) is nonsense because something like this probably doesn't exsist.

I am looking for any good books about bolts, if anyone could suggest? And also the name of company who I should contact. For now, noone answered me.

So you're asking someone/some company who may have years/decades of hard learned knowledge about bolt manufacturing to just turn it over to someone on the internet? Of course nobody is going to answer you, that information is incredibly valuable.

If I were upper management and some quality manager did what you requested, I'd seriously consider letting that person go.

Please do understand that performing a Design FMEA and/or Process FMEA, follows a standard model for doing this. It is nicely laid out in the guidelines. Success of the FMEA process depends greatly on how serious and committed the FMEA practitioners are. Having said this, you will have a problem in trying to obtain an exact FMEA record for bolt design and/or manufacturing. You must perform FMEA in the context of your own organization and its own manufacturing processes. Sorry, there are no specific FMEA books for bolts. Many of us have learned to apply FMEA by learning and applying and learning again. :agree1:

Good Luck!

True Position I think I wasn't understandable enough in my post here because your reply seem to not have anything in common with my two questions; lists and/or examples of FMEA on bolts. ''Knowledge about bolt'' is not a list of possible failures, consequences and solutions. Also I don't think they would show all the secrets with copy of used analysis as an example. Still, thank you for replying.

Stijloor I have been learning from the book "The basics of FMEA". I have some other sources of FMEA also, even (unfortunately for me, in general and not specified to any example) online are some good theories of it. So if needed more theory, I could do the research online. But I have more issues with practice comparing to theory.
As you said, I know there are no specific books for FMEA in environment of bolts. I was asking if anyone knows any books for bolts and would like to suggest?
For my opinion its still a difference in doing FMEA for manufactory or for thesis. One person (me) should do the thesis, not several, even if one of very basic rules about FMEA is that more participans are needed. But when it comes to graduating and university, one single person signs on thesis, not several. Also I don't have assistants in manufactory, not the ones who would be in team, not the ones who would help with their years of experiences.
So rules for thesis are not the same or don't ''follow'' the FMEA's rules which doesn't mean that FMEA cannot be covered in a thesis.

Perhaps some good books about bolts and how they are made would help. If anyone suggested anything, I would appreciate. :).

Man, provide us the preliminary details of the bolt like application, functional requirements, fitment requirements, etc in case of DFMEA or sequence of operation or hand drawn sketch of a bolt, etc in case of PFMEA. I am sure the forum can help you with potential failure modes, causes and controls rather than FMEA, per se. You are not alone LOL.

No company is going to give you what you request since it's private valuable information.

In your original post you were looking for:
I need some examples because, without them, its not possible, at least for me not, to know all houndreds of reasons why for example tool broke, all thousands of situations what could go wrong with bolts in all processes (cold heading, rolling, milling, thermal treatment) as well as other neccessary lists.
The company with a FMEA with those hundreds of topics spent a lot of money learning those things and it would be to their competitive disadvantage to give that information away for free.

People are glad to help with the basics of the FMEA process, but nobody is just going to hand you a completed FMEA on their manufacturing process.
