FMEA for Service Provider - Detection Level Criteria - Batch Heat Treater

In reviewing and trying to improve the FMEA process we have, I have always struggled with trying to adapt the detection level criteria to a service provider. These manuals (AIAG) were written with manufacturers in mind and as a batch heat treater it is sometimes difficult to explain our detection level choice to a manufacturer.

Does anyone have any advice or similar comments that might help me see the light? :frust:

I'm not a heat treat expert but have been a customer of heat treaters.

My expectation would be that most of your detection ratings relating to
product characteristics would be very high numbers; I've not seen anyone
doing 100% checks for product hardness!

I would then expect that your process controls would be very tight and that
those could have detection features (e.g. alarms go off when ovens do
not meet correct temp ranges).

I will echo Rosie's suggestion that you say a bit more about what your typical
process FMEA looks like, and we can be more helpful.
