Re: Football! (OK, we will even let soccer come in)
Do you suppose that Woody and Bo watched the game together?
Not only did they watch it together but Woody punched a passing angel that momentarily blocked their view!
I am so proud of my UC Bearcats for their upset of Rutgers!
My Bengals have stumbled badly so it was at least some good news for me!
I think sports builds character and has a greater impact on people's memories both good and bad than many people realize.
Years ago I was in a county assessor's office in Cincinnati researching a plot plan. There were a couple of older gents arguing near me about a football game. As they mentioned names and plays in their argument it began to sound really familiar to me.
Then it dawned on me that they were discussing my Dad's final high school game. Purcell vs Elder High School in 1945. It was the war years and there wasn't much in the way of pro sports so high school and college ruled. My Dad's offensive line outsized the Chicago Bears that year.
I interrupted and told them 99 the center for Purcell was my Dad.
They got so excited and they each wrote a note to him.It made his day when I gave them to him.
I remember attending the "ice bowl" Cincinnati Bengals vs the San Diego Chargers in the playoffs. It was -55 degrees at the kickoff and I was freezing in a black snow mobile suit with orange stripes sewn on it!
The Bengals line trotted out in thier summer jerseys looking like it was a spring day, Max Montoya and the big guys!
It was a rout! However we couldn't deliver in the Super Bowl against the 49ers (twice) sigh!
See I get started on this subject and can't shut up!
Hoo Dey!
