Gage Pin Sets? Calibrate/Verify them all or just a sample size?

Here is what we do. We are ISO and have not had any concerns with this approach for the last 10 years. Gauge pins are verified with calibrated micrometers (frequency is every 6 months) prior to use use. We have a sign out sheet to record the information.

1) BEFORE: Calibrate before use with the 0- 1" Micrometer (ID# XX or ZZ) to verify the pin size before using the pin.
2) AFTER: Use the 0- 1" Micrometer (ID# XX or ZZ) to verify the pin size before putting back in the case.

* When taking Gauge Pin to use in production, complete information on sign out sheet below
* When using Gauge Pin for inspection, Int/Date on the Quality Analysis form indicates steps 1 and 2 were completed

Notify the Quality Manager if there are any problems. Do not use pin if it is not correct.

Hi QCBOB simple solution for that is just place a label, tag note anything in the set of pins that says ** verify before use ** and auditor asks if you calibrate the pins say no we don't we verify the pins before use with a calibrated equipment.
