The form looks nice. I entered the Ford MSA validation data set to validate the calculations. The %TV and %Tol calculations are correct. There is a slight difference in the ndc results (13 vs. 14). This may be due to how many digits were carried out in the calculation.

If you want to enhance it, consider the other graphs shown in the MSA manual.

Jim is correct. I made no changes, only ran the validation data set.

The cell H26 shows incorrect formula to get the average, show : promedio (H24:H25) and must be promedio (H23:H25),

Hi all,
I changed Cell J92 to correct difference in the ndc results (13 vs. 14) into
=1,41*(C84/C77)
and now I have 14 ndc instead of 13.

Cell H26 calculate "AVERAGE(H23:H25)2.
I change formula for AV calculation. In new form AV is 0 in case of R analyses.

The Excel template KT.158_MSA looked really good, and it should be very helpful. However, I reentered data from a Gage R&R that I did with MiniTab and I got different results. Here are the results from MiniTab that I am interested in using:
Total Gage R&R %Tolerance (Study Var/Toler) 6.91%

Here is the results from the Excel template:100(R&R/Tol) 5.08%

Are Study Var/Toler and R&R/Tol considered to be the same? If so what could be causing the difference between the two numbers?

Very nice clean interface. Do you plan to update to MSA 4th edition as well? Your good work would need only a couple of tweaks as the 4th edition does more clearly differentiate between Product and Process GR&R and acceptable % and also modified the 0-30% rule.

Capability comparison and rationale demonstrated that 0-30% error has a neglible effect on Ppk/Cpk estimates. It was noted that capability percentage uses 30% as derived from σ; when the σ² (variance) is used, the maximum is 10%. Over 30% the effect on accept/reject decisions is almost exponential. (Appendix B, Page 199).

Hi automoto,

Just another question about your MSA Excel file:
I used it a couple of times now, but i wonder if it is not to be needed to fill in the minimal gage resolution ? For example when using a digimatic caliper fill in minimal gage resolution 0,01 mm or when using a micrometer fill in minimal gage resolution 0,001 mm etc.
