I'm new here, till today I just try to learn from you reading your posts and advices. Now I have to ask you for help.

This year we decided to conduct MSA with 5 appraisers, 20 parts and 3 trials.
I have problem with K1 constant. Does enyone have idea how to calculate it and extend d2 table.
Probably it is child's play but I stuck and can not go further to analyse results:frust:

I will appreciate any help

I would question why you would use 5 operators, 20 parts and 3 trials. The GR&R exercise is taking lots of resources and money. Is this necessary? What are your reasons?

Start with 3 ops, 10 parts and 3 trials..... That should be sufficient.

Refer to Post #3 in this thread. The d* values may be found in a table in the back of the MSA manual.

Well, 3 operators, 10 parts and 3 trials we have done in the past.
Parts
Our MSA problem is that we take measurement using microscop, our products are rather small and the differences between them are even smaller (the result is often NOT ACCEPTABLE) Range of tolerance is quite small (i.e. +- 0,05mm) and parts are very similar from size point of view so we decide to take 20 parts to get bigger variation between them (is it good idea:confused:)

Appraisers
We wanted to see what is the difference between all qualified operators (how they measure)

Trials
As usual

Taking above into consideration I don't know how to get K1:(
The d2 table ("g" and "m") includes only 20 subgroups and sizes and I need more.
I case of 5 operators and 20 parts "g" is 5x20=100, how to get that?

I would use 30 parts and only 2 repeats. I've posted on why this is statistically more informative than 10 parts and 3 repeats but the same amount of 'work'.

I have no problem with more appraisers given the system you have. I would actually qualify each appraiser once you understand how to improve them.

if you go to this link there is an attachement titled "Measurement Systems Verification and Validation" that contains the formulas you need. This gets you away from the AIAG restricted constants of g and m....
