Hello,

I have been studying this forum since early morning today and I am finding it extremely useful especially for anybody who starts in manufacturing field.
I AM NEW AND THIS IS MY FIRST POST

I had got dwgs and they call for quality features acc. to 0000 702 110. Looks like this:
FW3 (3) HM-
it is placed under rectangles showing symmetry at max mat'l condition and perpendicularity dia at max mat'l cond.

Also parallelism has 0.03 CZ at defined datum, what CZ states for?

Did anybody meet 0000 702 110 as a standard, guide or something similar?
My dwg is described in two languages: English & German so I assume it is German document.
regards
Yvona

The Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing call-outs on your drawing are based on the ISO 1101 Standard. Look at the title block, there may be a reference to ISO or DIN-ISO.

The number of the "standard" you mentioned may be a particular engineering document from your organization and/or your customer. You need to verify this.

CZ means Common Zone and is typically applied in the tolerance portion of a feature control fame that controls flatness, parallelism, or other planar feature that is comprised of one or more coplanar surfaces. Common zone means that the specified tolerance applies to the co-planar surfaces simultaneously.

Hope this helps.

Yes, you are right. I've found reference to ISO2768-2 for general tolerances and DIN7167.
If we take this job I will clarify some issues with our customer. Thank you.
I am new in this filed and I am sure I will look for more help here.

Good morning all,
I have a question regarding a flatness call out on a customer print.
It calls for a flatness of .100 and that is over another callout of
.030 / 20 x 20. This a frame that is about 97" by 97". Thanks in advance.
It is a military application.

It would be good to see the callout, but it most likely means that there is a requirement of .100 flatness across the entire plane, but no more than .030 is allowed in any 20x20 area. I don't know what the unit of measure might be for "20".

Jim is correct. Also, look at ASME Y14.5-2009, Par 5.4.2.2 "Flatness applied on Unit Basis." (Page 94)

The size of the unit can be square or round. The appropriate symbol must precede the size of the area.

As a side note: Make sure you have access to the appropriate GD&T standard referenced on the drawing.
