Tom,

Many books discuss the system standards but I know of none that explain how "implement" them.

Indeed, thinking "implementation" of a system standard may encourage the creation of a set of documented management system documents that attempt to compete with the management system that actually runs the business.

If you and your colleagues in top management already understand how your organization works as a system, using its process-based management system, then your organization is well prepared to develop itself and its management system so it conforms to ISO/TS 16949.

You would have to engage them in determining the additional processes and controls to put in place as an integral part of the business management system so it conforms to ISO/TS 16949.

Having determined the missing processes, resources and controls you can see if you have the subject matter experts to become the owners of the missing processes. Your process for planning and developing your management system should be used for this.

Work with your current process owners to determine which of your existing processes need the new controls and use your preventive action process to put them in place.

Lastly, use the Cove as your interactive book to obtain inputs to your plans and to review your plans and progress.
