Guidance on Weld Inspection

Hello,

Apologies if this is the wrong section of the forum.
Two new business opportunities have been transferred to my site from our sister site. This new process involves the welding of vacuum brazed heat exchangers. We have done some welding in the past, but not to this level.

For this project, we are working to AWS D 17.1 and have hired a new welder who we will qualify in collaboration with the customer.

Something which I've highlighted as an issue is that none of our Quality team are qualified to inspect welds. I want some of our team to get some relevant training/certification prior to this new business going into full scale production.

We are based in the UK and I am struggling to work out where is best to start in the training/development of our Quality Inspectors who will be assessing these welds. Because AWS is an American standard, I don't think there are any training opportunities in the UK and we'd need to do an online course.

I don't know enough about the different welding standards to know there would be a standard more specific to the UK which would give them the skills necessary to assess to AWS.

Has anybody in the community had to start from the ground up with weld inspection and can provide some guidance on where to begin?
Thank you for any support you can offer.
