My own experience with the 8.0 version of IMDS has been smooth after a short period of acclimation to the new environment.
We have not had any of the user login issues that I am aware of, but then again we only have two registered users that actually do anything and three more that have read-only access.
It has been beneficial for the sake of speed to be specific in searching for entries. In the past if I was not entirely certain of what I was looking for I would just leave all the search fields blank and keep flipping through the results pages until I found what I wanted. This new version handles this much differently with its dynamically expanding listings. Scrolling through all of the MDS entries is a slow process now and I am much better served by using the search fields, albeit with a few asterisks in the search terms occasionally if I am still not certain of what I am looking for. Either way the number of returned results is greatly decreased and speed is improved.

I personally have very limited experience in software development but I have seen many cases in that limited arena where user conditions and behaviors were not anticipated. Software development in general is a multidisciplinary effort and is much more than "just a few lines of code". Actual user feedback is quite often worth its weight in gold but it takes a determined developer to break through the angst and frustration in which the feedback is often presented by the users.
