We saw UP yesterday and loved it. The 4-year-old crawled into my lab a few times during "scary" parts - when the main characters got into a little trouble - I think the 8-year-old did once to my wife also - but they were raving about it afterward.

Probably bring a tear to the eye of married folks out there.

Overall - good for all ages.
:agree1: Good movie. The 3D was great too.

Saw State of Play and thought it was quite good. Not brilliant, but good, especially Russell Crowe and Helen Mirren.

Angels & Demons only rated a ho hum in my book. 'Plotline' as thin as they come, but favouring the 'keep moving, keep running, keep moving (they'll never have time to spot all the plot holes)!' style of direction. It was nice to see some views of Rome though.

The last one I saw was Spiderman 3 in the movie hall..that was what some 2.5-3 years ago. The effort and the money involved is too much..would rather wait for the DVD to hit the market............

I saw, and quite enjoyed, the new Star Trek film last night.

There didn't seem to be much of a chain of command in the crew of the Enterprise. Whoever got his bum on the seat first claimed the role of Captain, Chief Engineer, Chief Medical Officer etc.:)

Still, it passed a couple of pleasant hours.
It was a really good movie. One thing in the movie drove me nuts (don't want to put in a spoiler), but other than that, excellent.

As far as the chain of command thing, you have a pretty good observation. :agree1: They had a fairly formalized chain of command, but well... (don't want to throw spoilers in this).. I thought the movie-story did a decent job explaining why things happened the way they did.

Anyway... if you're looking for a good Summer, Big Screen action movie, go see it. I don't think you will be disappointed.

I think hubby and I are going to see The Proposal this Friday night....IF it's playing in our town...The last time we went to the theater to see a movie (New in Town), it never even came to our theater. :nope::mad::mad:

There is a midnight viewing of The Proposal in a nearby city tomorrow night, but I don't see us doing that....

I love going to the movie theater, the special effects now days are awesome especially seeing them in big screen.

Downside is the cost of a movie night. It is getting to be a bit too expensive, normally we prefer to go out and eat before the movie begins rather than to eat inside the theater.

I think with the demands of today's life, the movie theater is a sure bet to get away from it for a bit. And be able to spend time with the family and friends.

My wife and I attend early shows and get senior citizen discounts, but even then the prices for a first-run movie in a facility with good screen, good sound, stadium seating for clear sight lines still runs $20 or more for two when we include a tub of popcorn.

That said, we have several rinky dink old theaters in the area which have been split into two from their original configuration which show first-run movies for as little at $1 or $2, but the seats are not comfortable, the sound is muddy and the screens are small, and the popcorn is still ridiculously expensive.

One thing I like about going to a multiplex for the early shows - the staffing is light, so some folks take in a double feature for the price of one film. In the evening, staff members stand outside each individual screen entrance for the first twenty minutes of a film, collecting tickets, and barring "twofers."

Over a year old??Geeze, you people need to get out to the movies more often.:tg::lmao:

Have you rented Whip It? Now... it's PG-13, and it has some language, but an enjoyable movie. We watched it twice.

Drew Barrymore directorial debut. Not a bad movie.

I haven't watched a decent action-adventure in a while. But, it does not look like many of them are out.
