Have You Been to the Movies Lately?

My husband and I took our 3-year-old. He was a bit freaked out at the scene with the old lady trying to shoot the rats, but after that, he enjoyed it, and I thought it was fun.

My 12 year old daughter and I saw the latest Harry Potter on saturday, she thought it was o.k. I fell asleep.

Has anyone seen this one yet? Do you recommend it?

Took my 5 yr old over the July 4th holiday.
I would agree with the previous post that the movie is a little long for kids.
Also, I don't think there was really anything to the story. The animation was fantastic, but I didn't find a whole lot of substance to the movie, and my son got pretty bored.
I would give the movie a 7 out of 10 overall.

A parent is best able to gauge their child's tolerance, I suppose.

I have seen parents bring their children into movies which are probably inappropriate for most adults.
There were kids in movies such as 300, The Descent, The Hills Have Eyes, Grindhouse, and most recently I saw a parent with kids in Hostile 2.
I really liked some of these movies, as a matter of fact 300 just might be the best movie I have ever seen, but I would never take my 5 yr old son.

I took my 6 year old little girl to see "Surf's Up" and though we both liked the movie I still don't understand why they have to put all the grown up references in it. In one part of the movie, Chicken Joe is in the Forest looking for someone and says "He's around here somewhere I can feel it in my nuggets." Funny....but not something I necessarily want my 6 year old running saying.

I never saw the movie, partially because the trailer showed one character calling another a "peckerhead" and that is definitely not something I want my 5 yr old to pick up!

See..I've had other people tell me about this advertisement for Surf's UP after I took her but I never saw it. And a bunch of us parents went and we took our kids. We (the parents) kept sneaking looks at each other during the movie. :mg: It was like "Did I just hear what I thought I heard?"

So true, unfortunately. I remember being apalled seeing a small child with his parents at "Pulp Fiction" years ago, and I wasn't even a parent then. And that movie freaked me out! I pretty much figured/hoped the people who frequent this site are a bit more educated, and tuned in to their children's emotions.

The town where I live has one of the few remaining drive-in theaters, and I noticed the other day that there was a double bill playing: Ratatouille and 1408.
