Are you contracted to teach it, or are you an employee of the company?
In my case, I was hired by the company and am a full timer.
I just familiarized with ISO (many thanks to the cove) and spent a lot of time on the assembly floor, learning what was going on. Believe me, when I first started, I thought I was going to be lynched, as they thought I was going to tell them how to do their jobs.
I spend a lot of time on the assembly floor to this day talking to the production staff.
But I digress.
In my experience, if you can, don't lecture or make up a reason to joke with the employees. Let the joke come naturally if the circumstance happens.
Let the employee tell you about their job in casual conversation on the assembly floor.
Soon, you will find they aren't trying to lynch you, but will even come to you for advice.
The rest will fall into place.

For people who are new to Quality, I like comparing it with character-building exercises. Calvin's dad (of Calvin and Hobbes) went on many character-building exercises, and what he says is similar to what a lot of people say when you tell them to, say, do internal audits.

Calvin & Hobbs can be a rich source. Thank you for reminding me.

I often remind people about Calvin Ball. It is a game that Calvin and Hobbs often played. The unique thing is the the rules changed each time the other one got his turn. The analogy is that seems to be what happened to the definition of quality before ISO 9001 became common.

Apropos to the Dilbert search, my mother and I often share a laugh about the latest Dilbert cartoon in the newspaper. One day the topic was an ISO9001 audit. I told her about a similar event during my QS9000 audit, and she asked me what that was. I explained it was similar to ISO9001 but customized by and for the automotive manufacturers. With wide eyes she exclaimed, "You mean that's real?!? All this time I thought he was just making all that stuff up!"
