I think hockey & hockey fans in Detroit are different than any other state. The knowledge of the game by the average fan here rivals are neighbors to the North. I miss hockey, I miss the wings, but I have to agree that I am sick of hearing about a bunch of crying millionaires on both sides
I agree. GO WINGS. Here in Michigan, we are so close to Canada, I think the love for the sport just drifted over here. I am also sick of hearing about the strike and crying millionaires, etc. But what are you going to do. The owners at some point decided to pay Hockey, football, basketball players these enormous salaries and charge fans high ticket prices. So, I guess I could make a case for both sides...
I do miss hockey also, as one of the only "professional sports" that I like to watch.
This is just my opinion, but I do feel that out of most proffesional sports that hockey players seem to better at providing some positive role models (even if they are crying millionaires.......)
I have had the chance to meet several hockey players (due to some family members / friends being envolved w/ parts of the Red Wing Franchise) and I haven't met one really that hasen't been very outgoing, polite, and professional. But of course, I don't think when you meet one of them they are going to go off on you (bad press).
But I do miss my hockey and I miss the boys in Red!
