As the new Quality Manager (1 1/2yrs) I'm tasked with reporting quality trends each quarter. The one thing that I haven't been able to get my head around is how to accurately report Warranty Return trends.
I can show RMAs increasing or decreasing by quarter or by month.
I can show RMAs increasing or decreasing vs the same period last year.
The problem I face is that the volume of new units shipped this year is down from last year which makes the number of RMAs appear to be much higher.
Our warranty period is one year. So do I show RMAs as a percentage of units shipped one year ago? Do I try to factor in the age of each RMA unit?
