Training people in this aspect of a QMS is a waste of time. It's not what you should be focussing on, but an effective means of controlling documents, so that the people who need them, get them.
The idea that an operator needs to know if a document is 'the latest and greatest' is a legend from the early days of ISO registration because auditors either didn't know how to audit document control or were too lazy, so they asked the last person who touched the document a dumb question. It's right up there with training people about the quality policy!
Don't do it. Get to grips with effective document management and let the people worry about how they do their jobs.
