If your company is getting ready to go under a new name due to new ownership I dont understand why you would need a recert audit under under the current system - Why couldn't you let them do the recert - show you are transitioning into the new company's system so that when you get new certs they are under the new system?

I've been in the same situation 2 times before with the 3rd pending. Nothing really changes that much. As long as you document all of the changes you make in a revision log for next audit, you should be fine.

I'm sure with the business climate as it is, this won't be a first for your auditor.

All to often when buyouts occur the integration takes place on operational level and the quality system is not a recognized element of the integration. In my experience nobody from top management is going to step up to the plate and tell you what to do. This will be on your own initiative.

I would contact the other quality system manager and coordinate a plan along with the registrar representative. Perhaps you could both make a plan to optimize integration and have the auditors do a different type of audit, such as a gap audit between the two existing systems. IMHO having them audit a defunct system has no, dare I say it, added value.

In my opinion, come what may, the most important thing is to retain certifiction. I cant see any reason why it should be a disaster and as has been said you are entitled to delay the audit for a couple of weeks but dont delay if you want to do this otherwise you will be charged anyway for a lost visit.

If you want some reasurance, rather than talking to the certificator (who are bound to follow the profit line) why not just phone your auditor direct and see what he or she says?
