How does ISO/TS 16949:2002 differ from ISO/TS 16949:2009?

The TS 16949 is only for OEM automotive product. If you have other product that is being produced, this will not fall under the TS 16949 certification.

As Randy said, you can get both certifications from an IATF recognized certification body. If you have product that isn't OEM automotive product, it will only be looked at as part of the ISO 9001 certification. The ISO 9001 audit can be done at the same time as the TS 16949 audit with time added to the TS 16949 mandated time.

ISO/TS16949:2009 is relevant to all types of automotive supply companies, from small manufacturers to multi-site multinational organizations located anywhere in the world. However, it is only applicable to sites where production or service parts are manufactured. ISO/TS 16949:2009 standard is based on ISO 9001:2008, includes the requirements of ISO 9001:2008 plus additional requirements for the automotive parts industry. An increasing number of auto-parts manufacturers worldwide is implementing or upgrading to ISO/TS 16949.
And ISO/TS 16949:2002, particular requirements for the application of ISO 9001:2000 for automotive production and relevant service part organizations
