How is the arrangement between Design and Production organisation envisaged?

I'm currently looking at what EASA (and FAA) require for the communication and transfer of information between a design and production organization. Both organizations drill home about the importance of this arrangement, but I'm not finding information about how this is typically performed in practice.

Is it common to have a "back and forth" between the design and production organization when prototyping and testing for the application of a TC or STC?

I'm no expert in the specifics for aviation. I will say two things:
1 After the 737MAX fiasco, I suspect there will be a lot of emphasis placed on this topic, and new practices by the FAA and Boeing will need to be devised.
2. Dr. Deming (and Edward Martin Baker in his current book "The Symphony of Profound Knowledge) have a lot of good principles for the relation between design and production, including Dr. Deming's original systems flow diagram he worked with the Japanese on. Production and specialist suppliers should be involved in design reviews and their comments reconciled by design.

...and do not forget the dispositioning of nonconforming product.

C. Repair is a design change needed design approval unless design has already specified an applicable repair method.
D. Proposed Use-as-Is dispositions definitely require design approval.

Customer approval may also be required by the contract.

Thanks for the tips, will research them further.

Is it advisable to utilize the APQP/FMEA approach from the get-go for the development of design values? For elements, coupons, prototypes, etc in line with the building block approach.
