How long is delay?

You don't need to wait for recertification. You can do it now.
Switching topics here but our recert is next year. In brief what are the steps to change registrars? Does your original certification date from the previous registrar continue or does it start over. Not sure this really materials but we have been registered since 9001 came out.

We made the switch at recertification time. Had our new guy already picked out. They had to review at least the last audit, and then put us thru a normal recertification audit. We are on the same three year schedule.

true - but the registrars I've worked with will start you from a re-reg, not just pick up at a surveillance. so it's easier to switch at a re-reg.

It's really not material because the cert will only say how long that certificate is valid for. It doesn't say the original cert date.

Call a few registrars and let them know you're interested in switching. You'll fill out some surveys with info on your company and existing systems. They will walk you through the process of switching. See who offers the most bang for the buck. As far as at audit time it's pretty painless, it's just like if your current registrar sent a new auditor.

Good day @Sidney Vianna ;
Can you please help me understand your comment...
"The language from the contract that you copied talks about relevant regulatory issues and it is boilerplate clause for all different management system standards."

i.e. I am not familiar with the source of what the original OP identified as "contract verbiage" as follows....

" In the event the Client receives a Notice of Violation for any significant breach of regulatory requirements or suffers a serious incident applicable to the management system certification (i.e., safety incident when certified to an Occupational Health and Safety Management system such as ISO 45001, or environmental incident if certified to ISO 14001), the Client is obligated to notify registrar without delay of such incidence."

Thanks in advance for helping me understand.

Great advice. I have conducted several transition audits. Some were mid-recertification and some were at recertification.

I am not sure if I understand the question, but the verbiage in the CB contract is a result of pressure by accreditation bodies, likely ANAB, that realized after a string of debacles that many organizations in the receiving end of regulatory notices of violation had their management system certified by accredited CB’s who, for the most part were unaware and/or unresponsive to the situation. Most CB’s like to boast the cliche that a management system audit is not a regulatory oversight. But they want everyone to conveniently forget that regulatory compliance is one of the key objectives for any management system.

So, the language in the contract is an attempt to force registrants to disclose regulatory breaches to the CB.
