Howste It's AS NZS ISO 9000 2006 Fundamentals and Vocabulary at point 3.1.1. There is an international verison of this somewhere - cant recall where the expansion explaination is from though sorry.

It's "our" ISO 9000:2005 Quality Management Systems - Fundamentals and vocabulary.

It's "our" ISO 9000:2005 Quality Management Systems - Fundamentals and vocabulary.
The parts in parenthesis aren't in the standard though, so I wondered where they came from.

The purpose is to create quality advantage for it’s customers by working in partnership with them to provide and implement solutions in their quality needs in an ethical and professional manner.

To do this successfully, the Directorate operates a documented Quality Management System that reflects the requirements of ISO 9001:2008 where relevant. This is underpinned by correct and appropriate procedures and systems which ensure a right first time response to our customer needs.

Everyone within the organisation is a member of a team united with a common goal and is reliant upon a quality response from each other so that together the company can deliver customers the total service which they require.

All directorate staff are required to comply with the Quality Policy, procedures and associated systems, and are responsible for the quality of their own work, and their contribution to the effective working and continuous improvement within the directorate

The Quality manager being directly responsible to the Director, shall act as the management representative in all quality matters, and in this role shall be free from commercial and contractual constraints

Is this the old or the new? If new, I really don't follow it.
eg, talks about a 'quality advantage', 'quality needs' and 'quality response' without ever saying what the company position on quality IS.

And a system 'reflects the requirements' of 9001 'where relevant' (my bold) wouldn't fill me as a possible customer with confidence. At all.

Was thinking of changing it to
XXX are committed to deliver products and services that satisfy customer requirements for quality, delivery, reliability, legal requirements and value.

They will achieve this through the use and application of national standards, quality materials, employee training and empowerment, measurable objectives and continuous improvement of its quality system.

This is underpinned by correct and appropriate procedures and systems which ensure a right first time response to its customer needs.

All staff are required to comply with the Quality Policy, procedures and associated systems, and are responsible for the quality of their own work, and their contribution to the effective working and continuous improvement across XXX.

This policy statement shall be reviewed annually for continuous suitability.
I should really sign up with a better user name :)

Hey it depends on your company's policy and goal for a year. It should have containt of your company's policy towards customer satisfaction, CSR work.

Basically it consists of Mission, Vision and Values of your company
