How to Audit our company Marketing Process

Hello - One of the 10 main processes identified within our Quality System is "Marketing Process". The main mission of the marketing process is to identify the right market / product strategies and opportunities. (we are a manufacturing site) I just feel stuck. I dont know where to start. I think clause 7.2.1 may apply - plus maybe 8.2.1. How about 5.2? I just dont know for sure. The inputs for this process have been identified as well as the outputs and the upstream and downstream processes. But I just dont know what kinds of questions to ask besides "How do you identify the right market stratgies" or "How do you identify the right product opportunities" or "What triggers your process" or "What are the inputs into your process". "What are your outputs" Then what?? I appreciate any suggestion you might have. And please tell me if I am correct about the actual ISO clause. Thanks sooooooooo very much :)

Your first concern is to verify compliance with established practices/procedures/instructions associated with this process.. Employees must be competent to perform the activities within this process.

Once verified, the marketing process must be effective; meaning that the expected outputs are delivered in an error-free and timely manner. Ask what's critical to the internal/external recipients of the output(s).

A start...

Good Luck!

Why are you worried about 'ISO Clauses'? All you have to do is have the Process Owner describe the process to you and demonstrate it's being followed! It should be pretty obvious, from the examples shown to you, whether it's being followed as described to you. Have the Process Owner guide you through the process while you verify with the people he says complete the tasks. You don't have to get creative. "Let the Process Force Be with You".

Good questions to ask as an auditor auditing the marketing process ...
Do also ask if the management has set out any objectives that have to be met in order to align with the company policy. How they are measured and are they on track.
Enquire about what information and other inputs come in., how they are processed and what information and other outputs are given out. Question the process from a Plan, Do, Check, Act approach.
It should be pretty obvious, from the examples shown to you, whether it's being followed as described to you.
These examples are excellent evidences that you see, hear and make a mention in your audit report. What you will see are also records and make sure that the records are correctly trailed to your audit question.
Tell me Why ? Show me How ? What happens Next ? Who is responsible ? are some of the trails that you can ask and lead yourself to the person who performs a task.

I would also ask for KPI of the process, quality objectives vs company one, corrective and preventive actions, links with the other QMS processes (above all planning of the product realization), customer interactions and communication process.
If you check the web site of ISO there could be a guideline to audit this process as well.:bigwave:

.......The main mission of the marketing process is to identify the right market / product strategies and opportunities...

Tough to measure but maybe add to your system a direct measurable agreed upon by all involved.

Cost of Marketing divided (/) by sales would be a suggestion.
