Make sure the lighting is bright a contrasty in the visual inspecting area. Dk grey welds on dark grey steel is easy to miss. But a bright halogen work lamp (Home Depot) will make the welds turn bright, shiny, multi colored, and be much more visible.

Escellent point, this manufacturer did improve their lighting in the welding area and the painting area when they did their improvements. As I said, the improvements they made definitely improved their profitibility.
