How to do the MSA correctly in the first time?

I try to many times but i failed. there is the question i have in this time.

the MSA required that the sample should cove the total tolerance, but in fact all sample we produced are better than we required, for instance, the tolerance is 0.1mm, but all product are between in 0.05mm. what can we do in this case?

Is your measurement system used for 1) inspection, 2) SPC/Capability studies, or 3) both?

If for 1) Inspection, part selection is not really important as the part variation is not used anywhere in the calculations. Some will recommend that you use parts from the entire tolerance because they are attempting to combine a linearity check with the R&R study. This is not necessary if linearity is checked as part of your calibration program.

If for 2) or 3), the parts should represent the actual process variation, not the range of the tolerance.

Either way, you do not need parts from the entire tolerance spread.

The measurement system is used for capability study.the analysis mode base on part variation. but the result is very huge. please see the attached data for your reference. I could not figure out. any help would be appreciate. BTW, how to know the sample we selected represent the actual process variation?

The largest contibutor (the only statistically significant contributor) is Repeatability. The measurement resolution is acceptable, so you are either dealing with the "equipment" variation of the gage itself, possibly within product variation, or that the parts do not adequately represent the process variation.

If you have the process variation from a capability study of this or a similar process/product, compare the two to see if it is reasonable. If the study variation is not reasonable, use the capability study variation instead.

If you could explain more about the product, feature and the gauge, we could advise more on whether within product variation is a possibility and some potential courses of action.

thank you very much, you are right. I dealed with the "equipment" variation of the gage itself and did it again, the result is ok. the possible reason is the big variation of the three time test data. many thanks!
