How to find Customer required frequency testing to FMVSS 302

I know for the automotive industry the frequency of which you need to test for FMVSS 302 is based on the customer requirement as frequency is not called out in FMVSS 302 itself. However, I am not able to find any customer documents which states such. I have checked IATF Customer Specific requirements as well as Customer Specific PPAP requirements and have not been able to find. I reviewed the OEM specific Material Specification of which calls out FMVSS 302 and it does not refer to frequency requirements either. Is anyone able to point me to where I could find this information?

Suggest you check the AIAG.ORG site, I took 3-6 courses via this site one of which was Intro to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards...great course. This may be of value to you...

I'm assuming you work in automotive.
So, it depends, but largely is dependent on the customer. GM does not require annual flammability testing for instance, but VW requires it every three years, and Stellantis every year. But some of the Tier 1 customers we work with require flammability testing annually, even if the OEM they supply does not require it at all. I've never had to submit flammability outside of annual validation requirements. If I was in your shoes I would have done what you have already done; look through the Customer Specific Requirements documents, if I can't find the answer there, I would reach out to the SQE at the OEM or tiered supplier you are working with.

I think your material sub-suppliers should be able to provided certification of the flammability tests on an annual basis that you can forward to your customer.
