I have a question about document control. I wanted to know if anyone could give me any suggestions on how to manage external documents (NDA's, Kosher certificates, contracts, etc) which are not controlled by your document control procedure.
My second question is: Does anyone have any suggestions on how to include revision history on document? I have an idea but wanted to get some feedback. I would really appreciate any help. Thank you!
How about just scanning everything and giving the scan a meaningful filename for rev tracking?
Kosher Cert May 06, Kosher Cert July 08, Contract ABC July 08, etc.
I suppose for solid control you could add OBSOLETE to the filename for all but the most current file.
So rather than set up a separate system for revision history you have the all of the various document versions, and you can always tell the most current.
A scanner is almost free nowadays.
Or you could step up to Acrobat Writer and make pdfs. Writer will let you make notes on the file (and a million other neat things). It is a bit pricey....but if you need it.
Good luck - simple is good
