Before shipping product that was inspected or tested using the alternate method, if required, the organization shall obtain approval from the customer(s). The organization shall maintain and periodically review a list of approved alternate process control methods that are referenced in the control plan.

Because the control plan shall be approved by the customer and approved alternate process control methods that are referenced in the control plan, does it imply that alternate process control methods shall also be approved by the customer?

Does it mean that the list includes all of approved alternate process control methods that are referenced in the control plan?

Shall such periodical review be approved by the customer as per 8.5.1.1? (If required by the customer, the organization shall obtain customer approval after review or revision of the control plan.)

Thanks

As far as I can recall from my previous OEM customer, they do ask for alternative/backup methods for key process where SC/CC usually are there in the control plan. The customer approval is required whenever changes are needed. Now the process are asked for documentation to well manage it in IATF 16949.

8.5.6.1.1 Do temporary changes to process control also have to adhere to the change management requirements of 8.5.6.1?
