How to use Sampling Plans - Confusion on Lot Sampling

Hello to all!

Either i am confused on how to use sampling plans or i need to review my knowledge about statistics.

Here's the case :

There's a supplier whose product is flour. he produces sacks of 50kr.
I have to check if he delivers sacks of 50 kgr (net weight).

The supplier delivers the sacks in XX different stores.
The average number of sacks delivered per month is 1455 in these XX stores.
I check the MIL-STD105E and i see that the coresponding letter is K
I choose the general inspection level II and i use the normal inspection table.
There as i understand i have to weight 125 sacks and according to AQL i will reject the lot (1455) if i find a number equivalent or higher to number "Re"

What i want to ask is trhe following : Am i going the right way?

Some thoughts / questions :
- i know that MIL-STD105E was cancelled. Should i use ISO 2859 and if yes which vesrion?
- Could the average number of sacks per month as described above represent a "Lot"?
- There is no reference to AQL in the contract between buyer / supplier. I have to persuade our top management to discuss it with the supplier.
- Our supplier has not gave us a range (+/-) concerning the net weight of the product.

How can i make a descent sampling or what sampling method should i use?
I will appreciate even the slightest help since it seems that no matter if i know some things in practice i do not feel sure on what to do. Thank you for your time reading this post.

Re: Confusion on Lot Sampling - How to use sampling plans

Dear Coury, it's ok. Thank you anyway.

After reading all the AQL posts in the apropriate forum i understood that my post has troubled the visitors maybe because . Moreover i understood that there is NO AQL defined in a contract between the supplier and the buyer (us). The issue is to persuade top management to include the AQL in the contracts...

Not the AQL, necessarily, but a reasonable tolerance. If the nominal weight is 50kg, how much is the supplier allowed to vary from that amount? It sounds to me like you need to establish a tolerance and then ask your supplier to do MSA and a capability study. From that point you might ask your supplier to improve the process or you might accept the supplier's present capability and adjust the tolerance accordingly.

Note that because flour is a food product, there might be regulations in your locality dealing with package weight that will bear on your situation.
