Hypothesis Testing + Thumb Rules

I know there's

"If P is low, the null must go".

Are there any other quick thumbrules that anyone knows (for hypothesis testing in particular, but if the moderators allow, for other quality disciplines as well. My students like these, but I only know the few.)

If t (or z) is high....
if alpha is low, ....
If Mann-Whitney....
If sigma is six, ...

etc.

Much lower level of learning, but in elementary school I was taught that an improper fraction was a Dolly-Parton fraction ........it's top heavy. lol
