I owe you guys my career!

TPMB4

Quite Involved in Discussions
After being on here a good number of years I've moved on to a big company as an auditor and part of that was a funded lead auditor course with a reputable provider, IRCA and CQI recognised. Having completed the course part now have a 1hr40 minute exam to sit to complete. Whilst on this course I realised I actually love doing this. It suits me well.

Without learning from those on the cove forum I doubt I would have got to the point of applying for a proper job in the quality field and certainly never have got it. I wouldn't have the confidence or knowledge to do this job.

So now on the cusp of getting a lead auditor qualification and getting better, more valuable experience in this job I wish to thank everyone who has given me advice. I also want to thank everyone who has given others advice to because I also learnt from what you explained to others.

When posting advice on here I am pretty confident you won't be thinking about what your advice is giving others less experienced, the value it gives. I think it is a fair thing to say that you have given me my career.

Congratulations. I hope your career rewards you in all areas important to you. I see many people in careers they dislike; each day is a struggle.

Enjoy it and also please contribute here for the next TPMB4 in line!

Oh I've been contributing for years, dating back when the original founder ran it, 2012 I think I joined. I stopped for a few reasons one was that it looked a bit slow and I had a few other things on my mind at that time.

I'm in and out even now. I think even I can offer something so I try to. At one time though I did a lot more contributing.

Aw this is wonderful and inspiring to read :) Congratulations!

I too owe a lot of gratitude to the contributors of this site. In my recent mid-year review, I was given a little more authority and responsibility. The COO said that he thinks I'm ready for it and that in meetings in the last year, I have said some things that really surprised him which is part of why he feels I'm ready for it. I have to admit, I've surprised myself plenty of times. And probably almost all of those times it was because I read and learned from something here that I was able to apply to us. So a million thanks and I promise to pay back/forward with my own contributions whenever I can!

Well I've survived my first year. I prefer this place to my old place because there is respect and openness in this place. What I mean is everyone does their job and appreciate you've got to do yours. You're not dumped on for example.

As to liking your job, well I agree. You have to like the money, the conditions, the colleagues and the work. The latter one I'm not quite there because I've not been given the chance or been able to take it. Suspect I'm in a dead end here in this role.

So I've found a new job to apply internally for that is closely related to what I know from automotive sector on the grade up. They're also recruiting for two grades up. It is in another team within quality function and involves suppliers and a degree of coaching too. What attracts me to this role is that it's a new area being developed within my company which is APQP. It's proving very successful and the senior management are all keen on it. They're copying it from aerospace but AIUI it's from automotive originally. I feel I could offer the perspective of smaller supplier doing it for big customer. It seems they've only got big Co POV on it.

So once again thanks for this site. I'll be getting more involved again. Hopefully I'll contribute not just benefit from it. I used to contribute a lot more, despite not being as experienced as others.

Anyway, just another post to say I'm at home in my "new" job and here, so thanks for both.
