IAF Time Window requirements for scheduling Recertification Audits

Is there an IAF document or something equivalent that states the time frame that recertification audits have to be completed in? Working with one registar, they said it was a 30 day window on both sides of the previous year's date. Now I'm working with another registrar who will do the recertification audit prior to last year's date but not after.

I'm just confused and I'm looking for what the actual requirements are.

The IATF's "Rules for achieving IATF recognition" states on page 16 all the timing requirements for the recertification audits. The recert audit shall provide sufficient time for the resolution of any nonconformity that may be raised and the certification decision made before the expiration of the existing cert.

And that means the recert cannot be done "after".

IATF appears to be automotive. Don't know if their rules would apply to an ISO 9001, ISO 13485, or an AS9100 audit.

I found the IAF document here that explains how many days an audit will (should) take versus the number of employees. I am curious though if some guideline exists on scheduling re-audit dates.

Sorry, I mis-read the IAF information. Have you checked on the MD5 document on the www.iaf.nu website?

Now let me actually use the correct (?) terms....

I was actually looking for the timeframe for scheduling a surveillance audit.
