IATF 16949:2016 still doesn't get 7.1.4 of ISO 9001:2015

Not sure what I have to clarify, as I stand by my post. It is irrelevant if the text in the IATF document is a note, because it still misleads people to believe that ISO 9001 and the IATF 16949 document have requirements related to personnel safety, what it is clearly incorrect. Remember, notes in standards are supposed to "clarify" the requirements. In this case it does accomplish just the opposite. Notes are not supposed to be ignored, just because they are not requirements.

On LinkedIn, a mainstream CB is advertising a webinar on ISO 45001 and they have the following text

IATF 16949, Clause 7.1.4 specifically recommends automotive suppliers have an independently certified OH & S system that is aligned with the strategic direction of the organization. ISO 45001 is the standard the IATF recommends

what, in my opinion, is also very misleading because the two alleged recommendations simply don't exist.

If people are confused by that NOTE, they need some serious training.

I just wrote an internal audit finding citing that clause for eye wash liquid having an expired date. I don't really care about the standard...it needa to be changed out and something put in place from it expiring again.

You cited a requirement that has nothing to do with the issue at hand. From an auditing standpoint, that's bad practice. We have discussed this subject many, many times at The Cove.

Occupational Health and Safety is, obviously, a very important subject and any potential problem needs to be reported. If the organization is serious about the well being of it's workforce, it will fix what needs fixing. But, good auditors have to stick to the scope and criteria of the audits. And report findings outside the scope of the audit in a proper manner and to the proper channels.

Not if they want to keep their jobs at the company I work for. Everything revolves around response and added value. Waiting for another group to escalate and fix something because its out of scope is not acceptable. When IATF starts sending me checks, I'll scope it in!

This is a great (somewhat comical) observation Sidney Vianna. Yes, I agree with Marc that I doubt you are overthinking the issue, but simply questioning the wisdom of the the "NOTE" applied by the IATF team.

Here is where (in order to remain professional), I will resist sharing my thoughts regarding the IATF team competency and wisdom vs the ISO team competency and wisdom.
