IATF 16949 Contingency plan requirements / Sanctioned Interpretations?

I got a Non-conformance regarding contingency plan test or simulation.
I have done testing of everything except by Labour shortages. We have in our system that in case of nobody comes to work to the floor, we use personnel from other shifts, but the managers find it too difficult to test it, they say it is impractical.

I need some help here, we need to do something about it. :truce:

I have no idea how you would effectively test "calling in a person from the other shift" without actually doing it. Do you have any experiences when you used a person on another shift to cover for someone? Maybe you can use that as "evidence" you plan could work. Or maybe a confirmation that you have the proper contact information to get in touch with the other people? But I'm sure this will make your company so much better. Good luck.

Brainstorm with your team to find out what can be done to fulfill the objective / test whether it can work when actually required.

I would at least simulate by calling second shift operators and tell them to come to first shift (Just to get their feedback, I won't want them to actually come). I would like to know their availability, problems and whether we need any extra resources in such situations (transportation facility, etc.).

You can always test the contingency plan, for example, the plan are :
1. Labor shortage
2. See next shift schedule
3. Call out next shift

The you just try with the manager, is he have shift schedule? does he know where to find it? does he have next shift phone number? does it still active? do the people answer the phone?

Don't burn your factory to simulate fire contingency plan right? i hope this helpful. Thanks

I have attached my most recent copy. This version was audited at our IATF upgrade audit and there were no issues found. The password for modification is "ag" (lowercase letters). Happy modifying!!!

Try both "ag" and "AG". I believe the password is different on the individual tabs.

Company Business Continuity plan states

"Daily backups are taken & audited, and the backups are stored at an offsite location.
A procedure details the backup methods, which are accompanied by a backup schedule.
Also, continuous backups are done off site (company name) & audited weekly.
Back up also stores (cloud based) all emails.
It is anticipated that to restore basic operations would take a maximum of 1 day, and fully operational including a new Server within 2 days."

Plus referenced cyber attack listed within the Risk Register.

This passed IAFT last month.

We had a non-conformance about testing our contingency plan, in specific about natural disasters. I was reviewing your document and saw that you didn't add any other type of disaster, only Fire, how did you manage with the auditor to keep clear on this topic? (natural disasters like flooding, snow, earthquakes?)

Our auditor didn’t question it. I work in an area that we have no water for flooding. We do have tornado and fire plans. And snow is pretty much a common thing here. We drive big trucks and plow through it. Probably not very helpful.

That sounds interesting, I mean, if you do have a tornado and fire plan, that means that tornado could be a recurrent disaster in your city, but it hasn't been consider in your contingency plan matrix. I believe that, if you already had a tornado plan, you could added to your Contingency Plan List, Don't know...
