Have any of you had already the IATF external audit virtually (remote)? If so, what have been your experience? I am going to be schedule for next January and is going to be the recertification audit, so I want to prepare.

Not IATF, but our AS9100 remote audit went well.

I highly recommend doing a test run with the auditor a few days before the actual audit to make sure the communication goes as planned.

We also had a laptop on a cart to take the audit to the shop floor as required.

I'm wondering this as well. We have our re-registration coming up mid-January, and I have no idea how this is going to work. I've told the auditor we can do interviews and such on Zoom, but it wouldn't be feasible to try and carry on a conversation on the production floor, it's much too loud. Do we pull production workers in from various production processes as needed? I'm thinking this is going to be an awful experience.

Just completed a not-IATF re-certification audit and I second doing a dry run with the auditor to ensure that any technical snafus are addressed ahead of the audit. We had issues with incompatible file formats and Web conference volume that made things awfully inconvenient. If there's a facility tour via Zoom or Facetime or whatever, then also a floor plan with clear, simple, and logically-labeled waypoints provided to the auditor so that it is clear to everyone where in the facility you are at any given point (e.g., "Waypoint A" vs. "Flux Transmogrifyer 5000 number 5" - it's easier to quickly find on floor plan). On the whole though, it went pretty well and wasn't too different from the in-person audit.

If you are going to walk around with a wireless device, test ahead of time. We found a couple of spots where the video would cut out but restore automatically once the device moved out of the problem area and one spot where the connection dropped entirely and we had to reestablish the connection from the beginning.

The auditor has said we can use Zoom, which is good because everyone here has become very familiar with Zoom this year :/ We'll do a test of Zoom using cell and wifi to see where the dropouts are.

We completed our IATF recertification audit earlier this month. Our CB set up testing time prior to the audit to ensure the media we were going to use in the office and out our on production floor all worked properly. We used Microsoft Teams. Our production areas are very loud. We used external speakers so the operators and auditors could hear each other better. Our auditor also recommended getting Bluetooth headsets but we weren't sure if the operators would be okay sharing them even if we sanitized in between uses.

Hasn't your CB or auditor requested what documents they would like to see before the audit? Ours requests customer scorecards, new customers, documented processes, internal performance, internal audit results and the latest management review.
