A man walked onto a construction site & asked for a job."Things are pretty slow; there wouldn't be much for you to do,"the supervisor began."That's just the kind of job I'm looking for!" the man interrupted.
My ideal job would be as a proof reader of a publishing house. Proof reading only my favourite authors such as Wilbur Smith, Lee Childs, Stephen Coonts, Tom Clancy, Larry Bond, Andy McNab, Chris Ryan etc. Imagine being the first one to read their manuscripts? Coooool
Alternately, being the first one to read some authors might crush your spirit when you see how much they owe to editors. Actually, you don't want to be a proofreader if you want to be first; you want to be a "selection editor." Proofreader is last guy before the printer. Editors and copyreaders are first, checking content and style - proofreader just checks for spelling, grammar and miscellaneous typos.
I have the ideal job already it's pretty cool.
I'm working in continuous improvement in a company wich spends 97% of the time doing non added value work. It's a real dream we are going from a workshop to the other and each time it's just a few days payback (too bad I'm not getting a percentage of the savings each time cause I'll be rich).
Otherwise mistake proofing (not poka-yoke just for books) is kind of boring cause you need to pay too much attention to the book but to be the first to read all the manuscripts whaou that's a job I'd like to do also.
