I am implementing a new calibration program in my company. This company has been around for 110 years and we just began in Oct 09 implementing a quality system! Initially I went around the entire campus stickering and documenting every tool that would need calibration. I came across many tools that were so small I had to cut my 3/8" labels in half in order to fit them. Now the problem is the calibration vendors stickers were too big to be put on these small tools. So they put them each in their own zip lock bag and put the sticker on the bag. I was informed by the shop lead that these bags probably wouldn’t stay very clean for long and could cause the stickers to fall off before the next calibration. The vender did not take my stickers off the tools in fear their unique id's would be lost. I fear that the small amount of adhesive holding my stickers on may be compromised before the next calibration. My only thought is to get these small tools laser etched with id number and have the calibration vender put the new cal stickers on the foam in the location of the shadowboxing. This complies with my ISO 90001 API Q1 spec for calibration and measuring devices. Which states that a calibrated tool must have a calibration sticker on it or on its container. Does anyone have any experience with this? Questions, comments, concerns please!
