Identifying trends in QMS Nonconformities

Currently I use various spreadsheets for maintaining and indexing the Corrective Actions I receive. There are three types, Internal, Customer, and External, from our registrar. We also have a Quality Complaint process which is designed to tackle issues before the CAR Request is submitted.

These are tracked on 4, if not 5 spreadsheets. Does anyone have a simpler way of keeping track of these items?

That depends on how much data you are handling: At some point it gets too much to handle smoothly in Excel, and your question seems to indicate that you have reached that level.

In our case, the obvious answer was to move on to a database application. This was many years ago and we could find no suitable commercial product, so we ended up with an DIY Access based application that has served us well over the years. That said, I do not recommend building your own application if you are able to buy something off the shelf: It may seem cheaper at first glance, but it can gobble up many working hours better spent on your main tasks.
