IE Back Button Issue

For the last couple days I have had an issue on the cove using the back button - usually in the "Last 24 hours" or "Since Last Visit" searches. When I hit back, the website header (lighthouse to lightning bolt graphic) shows up in the google ads area but the rest of the page does not change. It takes 2 or 3 clicks of the back button to actually move back to the query.

Anyone else have this issue or is it just me?

FYI - IE 6.0 SP2, Win XP Professional

Actually I have the same thing happening since Tuesday, but I thought it might be just me.

i also just figured it was our computer system here at work. guess one should never assUME

It was a constant problem for me Wednesday 1 June. Maybe the message is that modern technology only wants us to go forward?

What's that line?...."you can't know where you're going if you don't know where you've been"? :bonk:

This may be related to some new advertisements I put in. I'll take them out this afternoon and see if that cures the problem. Give me until about 2 PM or so to get into the templates and take them out. That's the only significant change I've made recently.

I haven't noticed the problem but I don't use the back button very often.

Add: Just to clarify - Are you saying you click the 'Last 24 Hours' or Last Visit' link and after the page loads you click the back button and it doesn't take you back to where you were when you clicked the 'Last 24 Hours' or Last Visit' link?

Exactly. It takes 2 or 3 clicks on the back button.

Technically, when you click the 'Last 24 Hours' or Last Visit' link it's a database query (a 'search') that involves 2 steps and is 'labelled'. The advertising I added (and just removed) shouldn't affect that page because there is no advertising on search results pages.

That has always been the case for me, as I remember, where if I'm on a search results page and hit the back button once it takes me back one step and runs the query. To get back to where I was when I clicked the link, it takes two or three quick clicks of the back button. But as I say - I rarely use the back button, especially on a search results page.

Are you sure that this is a new 'issue'?

Now - It using the back button on pages outher than search results pages is the issue, that's a different story. I did remove the advertisements I put in so we'll see if that changes things. I put the ads in on monday, if I remember correctly.
