Hi everyone,
I would like to ask about unearthed metal parts which is between earthed metal parts. We have device with adjustable metal arm. The monitor is attached to that arm. The backplate of screen is earthed, the device body is earthed as well. The arm is not earthed and is separated from the other earthed parts. Although when the monitor is adjusted, you can touch the unearthed arm with earthed monitor backplate.
According 60601-1 movable parts should not be earthed, or if earthing is provided the manufacturer must provide evidence of earthing reliability.
My question is: should unearthed arm be separated from earthed metal parts somehow? I attached quick sketch.
