IMDS - Amounts and Weigts

Hello Everyone,

I am trying to enter a specific weight for copper in g/m but I don't have this option to choose from the drop-down. The options are kg/m2 for the area, and length. Is there a way for me to enter copper in g/m instead? If yes, how?

Doesn't appear to me that there are any other options available when creating a Semi-Component. This is the point where you would indicate that your item is measured by length, area or volume. It only shows "kg/m for length", "kg/m2 for area" and "kg/m3 for volume".

You will have the option to enter the weight in as grams though when filling in details for the Component later. IMDS uses the entered specific weight on the Semi-Components to fill in the Calculated weight per item of your Component.

Hello Everyone,
I am trying to learn more about IMDS, and I appreciate your assistance very much. Should distributor businesses submit IMDS to a customer at all or only the manufacturer is allowed to? I ask because if something changes or is updated about the material, how would that affect the customer if the IMDS is submitted by the distributor instead of the manufacturer? Are there exceptions? Where can I find more information on this? Thank you!
