QAMTY,
Are you applying the glue to the printed stock or are your purchasing label stock with glue adhered to it? already The glue (if you are applying) or label stocks have technical specifications sheets you can look up on-line or you can get it from the mill/paper merchants. This is their guarantees, chemical makeup, longevity specs and may answer some of your other questions.
Another thought- Test the Label. Apply the actual label to something and test it internally. You need to know what the label is being applied to (glossy/dull/varnish/ laminate/plastic/metal)If you do not know ASK the customer!! That is a big deal since longevity surface adherence is the source of how long the label will last. Sometimes customer will lend you the product you are adhering to so you can test it.
I have a feeling you are working with a large volume print run and you need assurance it will work. Testing label on actual surface of end product gives sound confidence it will work.
Some testing suggestions for glue & ink on label stock:
- Will product/label be in extreme hot/cold climates = longevity of stock/ink
- Product finish, label is being adhered to (Plastic/Vinyl can have petroleum in it)
- How long glue will lasts = How long product/paper will be around (shelf life)
- Durability - will be handled/touched a lot = fingerprinting/oil
- Will label be exposed to shipping (USPS/UPS) = Labels take a beating if they are on outside of box etc.
Let me know if I am close to what you are looking for. I think this will at least let you think of what angle to come in at for testing.
