In the US, what is the difference IATF, IAOB, and AIAG? To contact the IATF, I have to log onto the IAOB website and send an email to "quaility@ AIAG."

So what is the difference in function, management, responsibilities, and authorities?

I think I have this straight. QS was "owned" by the Automotive Task Force (ATF). The AIAG was their information and education arm. With TS, the owners grew to be the IATF. Because the AIAG was only US, the IATF needed "oversight" bureaus in the various member locations. In the US, that would be the IAOB. The IAOB is housed and staffed by the same people of the AIAG. The AIAG still handles the different QS type manuals (SPC, FMEA, etc.), but the IAOB handles the TS stuff.

The IATF (International Automotive Task Force) "The IATF is an "ad hoc" group of automotive manufacturers and their respective trade associations, formed to provide improved quality products to automotive customers worldwide." (Definition from the IAOB web site). Under the IATF there are several groups from different nations (IAOB - USA, ANFIA - Italy, CCFA - France, FIEV - France, SMMT - UK and VDA - Germany).
The AIAG does the publication (SPC, FMEA manuals etc.) and is the training arm of the IOAB (even though Plexus does the training). The IAOB and AIAG do share the same building in Southfield, MI but most of it is taken up by the AIAG for training rooms.
