Incorporating an ISO 9001 Company into an AS9100 QMS

I am the Quality Manager for an AS9100 registered company. We recently acquired another company that is ISO 9001:2008 registered. It obviously already has its own Quality Manual and associated procedures. The plan is to keep this company ISO registered with their own QM and SOP’s. I believe I’m OK with leaving the ISO stuff as is, but I’m not sure how to account for the new plant in the AS9100 QMS. I think I need to put something in the AS9100 QM to account for this other plant, but I’m not sure how to do it.

Any suggestions would be appreciated

Can I ask why you think you need to? It's a different company, doesn't share a qms, doesn't share a certificate. Unless you management has plans to integrate them, in which case it doesn't make sense to keep separate manual/procedures etc, you don't need to mention them. To all intents and purposes they are unrelated. Do they supply your plant? If so, treat them as a supplier.

It’s no longer a different company. They are being integrated but the plan is to keep the QMS’s separate. The reason is that the products and regulatory requirements are completely different. The customer base of the new plant only requires ISO, and wouldn’t want to pay for the additional oversight required to upgrade to AS9100.
We currently have 2 locations listed on our AS certificate and the new plant has its own ISO certificate. I would like to keep them separate, but I think I need to mention the plant in my AS QMS

Why do you feel the need to do this? What is the purpose? If they are a separate location, separate qms and their own certificate, why mention them at all? They are, after all, separate! Your qms/manual relates to your sites, not a separate one. I really don't understand why you'd do that so please enlighten me/us...

Actually, since they don't need AS, they can be treated as another site, possibly being sampled and save you money, but you'd have to ditch the separate qms... You are paying for two audits, twice the amount of internal oversight of core qms audits etc. and there's potential savings, internally too.

As mentioned before, you do not need to mention the new plant in your AS9100 QMS.

AS9100 certification is issued to the address listed on the certificate.

There are many companies that have both AS9100 and ISO 9001 sites since they serve different markets.

The only issue to be careful is that if you advertise that your company is AS9100 certified that the addresses of the sites certified are clearly displayed.
