Duhhhhhhhhhhhh, are you keeping track of rising travel costs? My airfares to and from some locals are upwards of 50% more in the last 4 years or so, hotels are probably 25%-40% or more as are food costs, and gas for the car depending on where I am at the time anywhere from $3.00-$6.00 per gallon. Depending on whether or not you're paying costs inclusive or exclusive, the economy and what it takes to operate within it on a profit-making basis is not stagnant.

Sidney is right about fee structures, I don't get involved with that nor do I wish to, I just deliver the work within the required duration period.

OK I'm not familiar with the scheme requirements, I don't do 16949 either (I've proof my parents were married at least 1 year prior to my birth), but if some of the same rules apply as they do 9-14-45, 20% of that time can be used for report writing, planning, etc and that can be done offsite, so 6 days x 8 hours = 48 hours x 0.8 (-20%) = 38.4 hours (rounded up to 38.5 hours onsite/9.5 hours offsite) ....The lazy auditor can write his report on Saturday or whatever (As I'm scheduled to do this week, as I did last week and so on). Actually while in the hotel he can be putting the report together every night for a couple hours each night. Besides, you're lucky you're not getting billed for the actual auditor time for each of your audits (if your auditor isn't so rude as to type while interviewing you or anyone else.....never have, never will, the client is paying for my attention).

I could go on but I've got to stop, I've a report to work on, in my hotel room so that I actually don't have to continue on Saturday. (Report writing time 8-12 hours each depending. Tech review failures, minor @ 1-2 a year at the most)
Roger that Randy, airfares are sky high, no pun intended...a touch of sarcasm...but air travel today is such a pleasant experience...!

Yeah, just as pleasant as the times I spent in rat & roach infested bunkers, searching clandestine drug labs, and stuck on interstates in summer weather.
