I saw some announcement of changes for August 2016. This is just an invitation.

Rumor has it the new standards were "tested" with the cooperation of some Tier 1 suppliers. That process involved a questionnaire/checklist completed by the Tier 1 prior to the audit. The checklist appears to facilitate the audit process. There may be copies of the checklist circulating around.

However, having said this, there is NO public information as to the standards. IATF has published guidance/mandates for transition timing and duration but that is all.

Here's the thing. Read on elsmar in earlier posts how there was a question whether automotive was going to adopt ISO 9001:2015 as the base. Sounds like they begrudgingly did. But what changes/additions did they make since they may not have really "liked" 9001:2015. Looks like they'll spring it on us an give us a whopping 12-18 months to comply.

I am not aware that TS16949 has a final date of adopting the ISO9001:2015. And for as long as There is no final issuance of this document, my company will sit on ISO9001:2008 until such a time the TS16949 changes. I know we will be given 3 -years to transition. Our CB is very good at guiding us through transition.

BE CAREFUL. Your TS and ISO 9001 certs will be cancelled on 15 Sep 2018. That is the current policy for both standards. That means there will be a rush to get certified to the new TS standards before that date.

Thank you for the warning! It's only 2016 and we are doing well in the TS16949 arena. Don't you know that the ISO9001:2015 is the diluted version of TS16949? We will cross that bridge once we get there.

Re: Any Insight to 2016 Version of TS16949

The bridge is closer than you think and I personally believe a large portion of the TS population in the US will not be audited before 14 Sep 2018.

Here is why:
TS Auditor shortage is challenging current work loads for recert and surveillance audits.
TS Auditor training must be accomplished to make current TS auditors eligible to conduct audits. That usually results in a decrease in the TS auditor population, never an increase.
No new TS auditors are being allowed to test until the new training/test is published.
All transitions to TS will consist of a recertfication audit with an additional day added (per IATF).
All TS clients will wait until 2018 to transition.

Thank you so much for the alert! We are working very closely with our CB on this matter.
